FROM the rural area of Nquthu in Kwazulu Natal, Izingane Zoma have been at the forefront of South Africa’s maskandi music since 1993.
During the 1980's, the traditional music form maskandi was to a large extent dominated by men. Formed in 1993 by Producer Busani Khuzwayo, Izingane Zoma are one of the women-fronted groups which changed the status quo of the maskandi scene.
This vocal trio have enjoyed a string of gold and platinum-level record sales in the South African market.

The group includes:
Thandoluni Phungula - lead vocals
Bongekile Ngobese - vocals
Tholakele Ngobese - vocals
All of the group's songs are composed by the the Khuywayo brothers - Shobeni and Busani. Shobeni is also the Producer of the group, while Busani regularly performs guitar.
The live band includes drums, bass guitar, guitar, concertina, plus of course the vocals and dancers.
