Loyiso Bala is a winner of multiple awards ranging from 5 SAMA’s and 3 Metro FM awards, most recently Best R&B and Best Producer at the SAMA awards 2008. Best R&B album of 2007 at the Metro’s and nominated at the MTV awards alongside Alicia Keys, Rihanna, Akon and P Square. Loyiso is also known for his recent style awards including “You” Magazine and GQ’s most stylish male in the country. Loyiso Bala personifies the best multi -faceted R&B artist on the African continent.

After overwhelming success with Kwaito act TKZee in 2000, Loyiso decided to release his own singles “Musukukhala” and “Silky Soft Skin” in 2001. The singles laid the foundation for Loyiso’s solo career and he went on to released his first album “Wine Woman and Song” in 2003, and his second album “Amplified” in 2005. These albums solidified Loyiso’s reputation as South Africa’s king of R&B, with singles such as Girl Without A Name, Angel, Gimme The Night, Cappuccino and Cuban.

Loyiso’s ability as a live performer has been seen by fans in over 16 countries, and at the end of 2002, Loyiso embarked on a world tour that saw him stopping off in London, America, Asia and the Middle East. Other highlight performances include several Miss South Africa Awards and Miss World appearances. Loyiso has performed alongside artist of the highest caliber including Jamelia, Corinne Bailey Rae, John Legend, Brian Mcknight, Elton John, Will Smith, Akon and for the highest dignitaries, such as Nelson Mandela, Richard Branson, Gordon Brown, Bill Clinton, Oprah Whinfrey etc . Most recently Loyiso put on a stellar performance for and audience of over 46,000 at the Nelson Mandela 46664 concert in Hyde Park in July 2008. Loyiso is an ambassador for the 46664 campaign, which sees Loyiso supporting several charitable and worthwhile causes such as coaching school plays and performing at charitable events. Loyiso also talks about HIV education in several school across South Africa.

Where does this talent come from? It has been trained since he was a teenager attending the prestigious Drakensburg Boys Choir in South Africa. Loyiso finished top of his class and nurtured his classical voice, which he now uses to master his unique contemporary vocals. But do not think that Loyiso is resting on his considerable achievements.

The singles from his current album ‘I want you’, ‘Blow Your Mind’, ‘Take Me Back’ and the current ones ‘Dali Wami’ and ‘Maybe’ were simultaneously all on the top 100 radio charts in South Africa at the same time over October/November 2008, a feat that rarely happens. Loyiso is now taking his new & most loved material to his fans and performs on average 4 times a week. Loyiso explains that “Live performances are where I am able to bring everything I love about music together on one great platform”. This music has been bought to live visually with videos for 3 of the new singles.

Loyiso is currently writing new music for the next album, due in July 2009. This involves recordings with producers in London, America and South Africa.
