David Poole and Dominic Peters are the Jazz musician-DJ-beat-freak-sonic surgeons behind Cape Towns Electro-Jazz sensation GOLDFISH. This duo is a breath of fresh air in the South African music scene, and in two short years have indelibly stamped their mark on electronic music, with their tracks already appearing on compilations worldwide. They have been hailed as the Re-invention of the DJ and their highly anticipated debut album, Caught in the Loop was released in November 2005 to rave reviews, as well as brokering an international deal with UK based record label Black Mango Music.

Both accomplished Multi-instrumentalists and Jazz musicians in their own right, Dave and Dom have taken their grounding in Jazz and upped the ante on the dance floor by combining Samplers, Saxophones, a Groove box, Keyboards, Vocoder, upright Bass, Flute and effect units into a spur-of-the moment, cutting-edge live remix performance.

Instrumentation:
bass guitar, sample / programmed, Saxophone
Genre: electronica, jazz
When performing live, they are DJs so to speak, but no predestined CD or Vinyl is involved. Everything is created live, allowing a completely unique, spontaneous performance at every show.

The album is a double-disc release consisting of a CD, as well as a DVD, which features a documentary\interview, and VJ set by the legendary group Iaminawe - mixing videos of Goldfish’s live performance and animation to the sounds of the album.

It is a continuation of tracks that have developed live and in the studio in the past two years, combining influences from jazz, dance, African music and downtempo, into a unique, truly African sound, and features a wide variety of different guest artists from South Africa and Dominic’s place of birth, Zimbabwe.

The album has been mastered in the UK by Soundmasters who have mastered the likes of Zero7, Fatboyslim, Depeche Mode and Groove Armada.

Caught in the loop is now available in South Africa.. The album will also be available online to order or download at www.goldfishlive.com, it is being distributed throughout South Africa by Kurse Music Distribution.
