The Cape Town based group fused mbaqanga with soft rock, winning a crossover audience in a divided South Africa.

Bright Blue initially comprised Robin Levetan (lead vocals), Ian Cohen (bass and vocals), Daniel Heymann (keys and vocals), Tom Fox (guitar and vocals) and Peter Cohen (drums and vocals). Robin Levetan subsequently left to pursue his architectural career, and the group continued successfully as a quartet.
